If you’re not quite sure what an actuary does, you’re not alone. The need to communicate more effectively about this mysterious profession, particularly to younger audiences, was the driving force behind the redesign of the website used to promote the profession.

In a collaborative effort, the Casualty Actuarial Society and the Society of Actuaries joined forces to redevelop the profession’s flagship website "Be an Actuary.” The first site was launched in 1999 and then re-launched in 2003.

Association Media & Publishing Leaders To Take Office June 9


Kimberly A. Howard
, CAE, publisher and director of surveys at the Association of Corporate Counsel, will begin her one-year term June 9 as the president of Association Media & Publishing.


This will be Howard’s fifth year on Association Media & Publishing’s Board of Directors. She previously served as chair of the organization’s 2009 Annual Meeting and the 2008 Annual Meeting Preconference Workshop.
Howard is also a member the American Society of Association Executives, through which she is a certified association executive (CAE).
