The supermarket buyer’s “life-saving” grocery ploy triggers a war of words in which customers argue that it is wasteful
- Ayesha shared her favorite Woolworths and Coles supermarket hack
- She stated that an inventory from the back of the shelf has a longer lifespan
- But their TikTok supporters argued that this has always been a strategy of the store
- Ultimately, others felt that one should start over to avoid waste
A supermarket shopper has revealed their ultimate grocery “hack” for buying products with the longest shelf life possible, but not everyone believes it should be used.
Ayesha, who lives in Sydney, has a Tick ââtock Video while shopping for her favorite hummus dip at Coles and explains why she never takes the one-kilo tub off the front of the shelf.
“This is honestly a lifesaver for me,” she said at the beginning of the footage.
âWhen looking for stocks with a longer expiration date, always look at the back ones. You are doing this on purpose. ‘

It showed two separate tubs – one from the front of the stack and one from the back – that had 19 days between their usage dates.
“As you can see, this expires on December 20th and this expires on December 1st. You’re welcome,” she said.
While some were grateful for the knowledge, others were less impressed that it was being shared on the internet.
âWhen you know you’re going to be using it soon, grab the older stuff. When everyone has done that, that waste builds up quickly, âwrote one woman.

“Yeah, and messing up the whole FIFO system leading to food waste,” said another.
A third added: “Common sense is not a hack”.
Ayesha defended her actions by stating that they would teach you nothing “in a 21st century school”.
âYou can all choose to receive the first when it suits you. I go through the food very slowly, it suits me best and saves me a dollar every time. ”
