WASHINGTON, March 18, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — AARP The Magazine presented the winners of his year Adult Movies®awards with a 20th anniversary special featuring award winners Be the Ricardos, Belfast, KODA, Intoxicated, Chop, house of gucci, King Richard and more. The winners were announced during today’s virtual event, broadcast by Great achievements on PBS, hosted by Alan Cumming as part of #PBSForTheArts.

For two decades, AARP’s Movies for Grownups program has championed films by adults for adults by advocating for audiences over 50, fighting ageism in the industry, and promoting films that resonate with adult viewers. Award-winning stage and film actor Alan Cumming started the show with an opening musical parody of “Cabaret”. The star-studded ceremony also included a touching tribute to the Oscar winner Goldie Hawn the winner of the Movies for Grownups Career Achievement Award Lili Tomlinwho hilariously talked about being a proud adult.

Tomlin joins an illustrious list of previous AARP Movies for Grownups Career Achievement honorees, including George Clooney, Annette Bening, Kevin Costner, Robert DeNiro, MichaelDouglas, Morgan Freeman, Shirley MacLaine, Helen Mirren, Robert Redford, Suzanne Sarandon and Sharon stone.

Other highlights of the evening included a special performance by the actress Saniya Sidneywho introduced them Best actor Screen Dad Award Will Smith for his role in King Richard. Director Aaron Sorkin introduced the Best Actress award to Nicole Kidman for showing both Lucille Ball and Lucille-Ball-as-Lucy-Ricardo in Be the Ricardos. Michael Keaton taken home Best Actor (TV) Honors and shares the deeply personal meaning of his role Intoxicated. director Kenneth Branagh receive Best Film/Best Adult Film to the Belfastand explains that it’s a kind of memoir about growing up during the conflict in Northern Ireland.

AARP’s Movies for Grownups® Awards continue its tradition of recognizing quality performance in the TV/Streaming categories. winner included Mare by Easttown to the Best Limited Series/TV Movie and Teddy Lasso to the Best TV Series.
