Albertsons appoints Jennifer Saenz as chief merchant

Next month, Jennifer Saenz, PepsiCo’s chief marketing officer and food division president, will join Albertsons Cos as executive vice president and chief merchandising officer. come.

Saenz is slated to start at Albertsons on July 12, the Boise, Idaho-based grocer and drug distributor announced on Wednesday. She will take the reins from Executive VP and Chief Merchant Geoff White, who the company says has been on leave.

Saenz will oversee all areas of merchandising, including Own Brands’ own brand portfolio, and be tasked with strengthening brand partner relationships, Albertsons said. As part of the senior leadership team, she will report to President and CEO Vivek Sankaran.

43-year-old Saenz brings more than 15 years of consumer packaged goods (CPG) experience to Albertsons, including increasingly responsible positions at PepsiCo since 2005. From 2015 to 2019, Saenz was the Senior VP and Chief Marketing Officer of PepsiCo Foods North America, where she drove growth and innovation for the $ 16 billion snacking product portfolio, according to Albertson. Before that, she held various positions in brand and customer marketing within the Frito-Lay business units from 2009 to 2015.
