Amazon has opened the doors to its first 4-star in-person shopping experience outside of the United States.
Shoppers will be able to purchase a range of top quality products from the online retailer’s website in its new UK flagship store when it opens today at the Bluewater shopping center in Greenhithe.
In the new sales area called Amazon 4-Stars, customers will find curated displays of items that are currently rated with 4 stars or more, are top sellers or are trending online.
The products featured range from consumer electronics, toys, games, books, kitchen and housewares.
The retailer says it will continue to outsource inventory based on its popularity and the preferences of local buyers.
Bluewaters Store in Upper Guildhall will also have a large tech section for a range of Amazon devices, including Kindle e-readers, Fire tablets, and Echo Dots.
On opening day, customers will see Mattel’s must-have toys, the latest building sets from LEGO, bestselling books near Bluewater, Joseph Joseph’s trendy kitchen gadgets, and a variety of highly rated consumer electronics, to name a few.
Andy Jones, Director of Amazon 4 Star UK, said, âThe Amazon 4 Star Store is a great place for customers to discover hot new releases, guaranteed page flippers, best-selling electronics and more.
“Every part of the store has been designed with our customers in mind, and we believe they will benefit from the curated selection of the most popular products at great prices, the opportunity to try out the latest Amazon devices, and the convenience of pickup and return.”
Upon entering, shoppers see a table with the “most wanted” items and the “most talented” items.
Customers can keep up to date with “Trends in Bluewater” with another ad dedicated to the items local customers are looking for most.
Most of the products have reviews straight from the website.
Next to each product there are also digital price tags with the item price, the average star rating and the number of customer reviews, so that customers can shop better informed.
The store does not have Just Walk Out technology, but customers can pay with cash, credit card or via the Amazon app with the 4-star QR code at the checkout.
Amazon 4-Star will also offer products from small businesses across the UK that are proving to be popular with Amazon customers.
This includes Gamely Games, a Brighton-based company that develops family-friendly games.
Hazel Reynolds, Managing Director and Founder of Gamely, said, âI’m really excited that people see our games when they explore the Amazon 4 Star Store.
“Our games bring people together to spend quality hours with loved ones, and we look forward to Amazon 4-star customers laughing at one another on their next game night.”
Amazon 4-Star opened its first store in New York City in September 2018 and has since expanded to numerous locations in the United States.
In August the company opened a £ 205 million “mega-shed” near Dartford Crossing and is currently recruiting.
