Amazons Black Friday offers debuted earlier this week, and there are some compelling reasons to check out Amazon’s own rewards credit card this holiday season.
With the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card, you usually get 5% cashback on purchases at Amazon and Whole Foods – however, at some events such as Prime Day, you get 6% back on Amazon purchases. It is one of the The best cash back credit cards if you shop in these stores regularly. And right now, there are a few other compelling advantages. First, the company will credit your Amazon account with a gift card worth up to $ 150 if you’re approved. Second, you can earn up to 25% back on selected items from changing Amazon categories.
However, the Prime Reward Visa cashback rates for purchases in non-Amazon stores aren’t that impressive. In restaurants, petrol stations and drugstores you only get 2% back, for other purchases 1% back. So if you’re not a regular Amazon or Whole Foods buyer, you might be better off with the Citi® Double Cash Card, which offers 2% cashback every buy (1% when purchasing plus an additional 1% when paying for these purchases).
Another alternative to Prime Day is the American Express Blue Cash Preferred® card, which offers 6% cashback on groceries in U.S. supermarkets – including whole foods – up to $ 6,000 per year (after which the cashback rate drops to 1%). You can also earn 6% cashback on select purchases from streaming services in the United States, including Amazon Prime Video. Finally, you can get $ 300 credit by spending $ 3,000 within the first six months of membership. Cashback is received in the form of Reward Dollars, which can be redeemed as a bank statement credit. Conditions apply.
However, the Amazon Prime Reward Card has no annual fee and the eligibility requirements are not particularly strict. Applicants with a “fair” credit rating (approx. 580 or higher) have a good chance of being admitted.
Amazon is also offering a scaled-down version of its Rewards Visa for non-Prime members, but the cashback rate from Amazon and Whole Foods is only 3% and the sign-up incentive is lower: an Amazon gift card worth $ 50. But if you want to maximize your cash-back potential on Amazon, then it’s probably better to become an Amazon Prime member first – which costs $ 119 a year – and then apply for the fully functional Prime version of the card. Since you can earn up to $ 150 as a sign-up bonus with the Amazon Prime Rewards Card, it can cover your first year of Prime membership in full many rewarding benefits.
As soon as you have the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card, you can redeem your reward points when paying at Amazon or as an account statement from 2,000 points – the equivalent of 20 US dollars. cash all rewards and redemption details here.
