North Central Massachusetts Development Corporation (NCMDC), the business development arm of the North Central Massachusetts Chamber of Commerce, recently approved a $ 67,500 loan to Homestead Market at 59 Gardner Road in Winchendon. The NCMDC approved financing was in partnership with Athol Savings Bank, which helped purchase the property.
Homestead Market, owned by Tony and Morgan Ruschioni, is a small family business that offers homemade products and services that are geared towards sustainable agriculture. Most of the organic and sustainable products are made with products sourced locally from the Ruschioni family’s farm, including specialties, gifts, personal care items, lotions, soaps, ointments and other homemade products.
Morgan Ruschioni not only runs the shop, but also runs various creative courses and special evenings, including painting, handicraft and children’s evenings. Homestead Market plans to hire one full-time and one part-time employee in the future.
“When you buy products at Homestead Market, you are supporting a local, small farm that uses regenerative farming practices and raises animals with care and respect,” said Morgan Ruschioni. “With the financial support and support of the North Central Massachusetts Development Corporation, we can build a business that enables our community to access healthy, sustainable food.”
As a micro-lender, NCMDC can provide small business loans of up to $ 250,000 for working capital, real estate, equipment, inventory, and expansion, and work with its banking partners to provide gap funding for the final part of a project.
