Bisousweet Confections, a Shirley-based wholesale bakery that supplies baked goods to retailers nationwide, is expanding to a new facility in Leominster.
Bisousweet is owned by Karen Collins and currently operates from a 5,000 square foot facility in Shirley, east of Leominster. The bakery is investing $ 2.8 million in the new warehouse, according to a press release from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development.
The expansion project was approved for participation in the government’s economic development incentive program, which will generate $ 750,000 in investment tax credits for Bisousweet, according to a government press release. Leominster granted the bakery a nearly $ 12,000 tax hike funding agreement in November.
The TIF agreement states that the company’s new location will be located at 554 Willard St., a 19,400 square foot manufacturing facility in Leominster’s Jytek Park. In a deal signed on Nov. 4, the property was sold to Lexvest Willard, LLC, a company registered with The Lexvest Group real estate agency, for $ 1.34 million, according to the deed. Lexvest has an office in the same building as Bisousweet, according to their websites.
After commissioning, the new facility will support 50 newly created jobs in addition to the current 20 employees, according to the state.
