Target wants to curtail “oil-free” cosmetics label lawsuit

By Jonathan Capriel (January 28, 2022 8:08 pm EST) – Target Corp. petitioned an Illinois federal court to limit a proposed class action lawsuit alleging that the big-box chain used misleading labels on its cosmetics brand Up & Up, arguing that the sole plaintiff did not purchase most of the products listed in his complaint has.

Adam Sorkin, who filed the complaint in July, alleges the retailer has sold a variety of its own-brand cosmetics as “oil-free,” when in fact they contain at least one type of oil.
