TEXARKANA, Texas – During a regular session on Monday, the city council will vote on the purchase of new dispatch, filing, and prison management computer systems to incorporate these functions into the Texarkanas Police Department and the Bowie County, Texas Sheriff’s Office – State Justice Building.
On Monday, the Texarkana, Arkansas board of directors approved its portion of the purchase, which was to be paid for from the Central Records and Communications budget, of which both Texarkanas and Bowie Counties are each contributing a third. The Texas side contribution will not exceed $ 600,000.
Texas authorities are using one system, Texarkana Arkansas Police are using another, and all systems used are nearing or past their expected useful life, Doug Avery of the TAPD’s CRC division told the Arkansas board on Monday.
The Motorola systems to be purchased will be some of the best on the market and will be fully compatible with the recently purchased new Motorola two-way radios used by TAPD, Avery said.
Utility reimbursement
On other matters, the council will vote to accept a refund of more than $ 39,000 from AEP / SWEPCO for urban lighting services. A recent full inspection of all lighting in the city found the refund was due.
The agenda includes an open forum where the public can address the council for up to five minutes on any topic.
The meeting is for Monday at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall, 220 Texas Blvd. A live video stream will be available through the city’s website, ci.texarkana.tx.us.
