Shanghai (Gasgoo) – In the first nine months of 2021, the GAC Group was able to achieve year-on-year growth in both vehicle production and wholesale despite the coronavirus pandemic and the industry-wide chip shortage.
According to a recent announcement, the GAC Group produced and sold 1,443,706 and 1,493,726 new vehicles, respectively, in the first three quarters, up 3.85% and 6.15% year over year. Meanwhile, the Group’s deliveries since the beginning of the year reached around 1.543 million units, up 10.7%.
However, the GAC Group’s wholesale business fell 24.63% year-over-year in September, showing a year-over-year decline for the fourth consecutive month.

Among the subsidiaries, GAC Honda took first place with sales of 72,054 vehicles last month, including 12,355 completely new FITs, 13,261 BREEZEs and 13,893 VEZELs. His Jan.-Sept. Wholesale amounted to 548,742 units and thus remained unchanged compared to the same period in the previous year.
GAC Toyota posted a 40.37% year-over-year decline in September, while year-to-date sales are still up 7.37%. The Sino-Japanese joint venture was also launched from Jan.-Sept. Deliveries increase by 12% to 603,386 units.

GAC Motor, the wholly owned passenger car subsidiary of the GAC Group, recorded a year-on-year decline of 26.32% in September, while sales have still increased by double digits since the beginning of the year. Notably, the company’s MPV sales for the first three quarters were 82,792 units, an increase of 81.3%.
In terms of new product performance, GAC Motor has received over 40,000 orders for the EMPOW since the A-segment sedan was launched in early August.
The GAC Group sold a total of 91,462 New Energy cars (+ 82.4% YoY) in the first nine months, of which 15,193 (+ 86.2%) were in September.

GAC AION, the subsidiary of the GAC Group that invests exclusively in new energy vehicles, recorded a 96% increase in wholesale volume in September compared to the previous year. Monthly shipments of the AION series rose 124% to 13,586 units in September and exceeded 10,000 units for five consecutive months.
